Updates and release notes for Legend Forge.
v2.2
July 3, 2026The gauntlet just tripled its population. All 88 teased foes are live — 22 new enemy groups prowling specific acts at specific rarities, every one of them a page waiting to be recorded in your Codex.
🐗 88 new foes walk the gauntlet
- Every silhouette in the Bestiary is now a real enemy you can meet — Ashfang Trolls, Quarry Ogres, the Widow's Chorus, Clockwork Hounds, Cairn Guardians, the Emberglass Coven, and 16 more groups, each with its own art and lore.
- Your foes finally look like themselves in combat: each named enemy fights wearing its own sprite, not a family stand-in.
- None of this touches the math. New foes hit exactly as hard as the old ones of their type — this is variety, not a difficulty change.
🗺️ Where to hunt: acts and rarity
- Foes now haunt specific acts. Bandits, boars, and swarm-frames prowl Act 1; gladiators, wolves, and druids arrive in Act 2; ogres, stone guardians, covens, and deep rigs only surface in Act 3 and beyond.
- Every foe has a rarity — Common, Uncommon, or Rare. The capstone of each group (the Chief, the Elder, the Overseer) is a rare spawn worth bragging about.
- The Codex tells you where to look: every locked entry now shows its haunt ("Act 3+") and rarity, so completing the collection is a hunt, not a lottery.
📖 A Codex worth completing
- The counter is real now: 128 entries, all of them earnable. Defeat a foe to record its page — name, lore, group, chassis, times felled, first recorded.
- Fixed: defeating an elite (Brutal, Tough, Vicious, Venomous) now correctly records its page. Elite kills used to vanish from the ledger — every one of them counts from here on.
- Encounters vary run to run: two heroes at the same depth can meet different foes, so every run reads differently.
v2.1
July 2, 2026The Path grows up — the whole act is now laid out before you. Survey the road, plan your route around chokepoints, gamble on mysteries with real teeth, and when you fall, see the map of the run you lived — including the lanes you never took.
🗺️ See the whole road
- The map now shows the entire act the moment it begins — every node, every path, all the way down to the boss waiting at the bottom.
- The near future is revealed (what each node is and how dangerous it looks, two rows ahead); everything deeper is a silhouette until you get closer. You always know the shape of the road — never everything on it.
- Scroll and pan freely to study the routes ahead or retrace your steps; a Recenter button snaps you back to your hero.
- Every run generates a unique map — paths split, wander, and merge into chokepoints every route must pass through.
🕳️ Chokepoints mean something
- Where all lanes converge, the gauntlet puts something worth converging on — a rest, a boon, or an elite. Never just another fight.
- Plan for them: spend HP early and limp into a rest, or arrive strong and cash in on the elite. The silhouette tells you where the squeeze is coming.
❓ Mysteries got fatter tails
- A mystery node's danger pips are now an honest read of the risk — but never a spoiler of what's behind the door.
- The gamble is worth it more often: mysteries lean harder toward elites, and a mystery that turns out to be a boon pays double.
⚰️ The path you walked
- When a hero falls, the run's full map is unveiled on the legend screen — your route lit up, the roads not taken dimmed beside it.
- Flip "show what the other lanes held" to reveal what every mystery you skipped really was. Sometimes the calm lane had the rest you needed. Sometimes the scary door you dodged was hiding an elite.
v2.0
July 1, 2026The biggest update Legend Forge has ever shipped — the gauntlet becomes a world. Forge an archetype, chart your own path through a branching map, decide when to run for the exit, and come back every day for a shared Daily Challenge.
⚔️ Archetypes — a new way to forge
- Choose one of five archetypes at the forge — Berserker, Hexer, Bulwark, Warden, or Duelist — each with its own signature effects and a curse that shapes your entire run.
- New effect cards stack and compound across a run: ward, bleed, lifesteal, frenzy ramp, hp-regen and more. Builds now snowball in very different directions.
- Enemies now fight in distinct modes — burst, attrition, and tank — and every archetype has real strengths and weaknesses against them. Reading the matchup is the new skill.
- Combat you can read: enemies telegraph their intent, a threat readout warns how hard the next hit could land, and status effects show live timers.
🗺️ The branching gauntlet
- The gauntlet is now a branching map — see what lies ahead and choose your own path, node by node.
- New encounters along the way: elite fights for the brave, rest sites to catch your breath, boons, and mystery nodes that could be anything.
- Fell a boss and choose a relic at the fork beyond — powerful artifacts whose effects last the whole run.
- Clear an act and a new, deadlier one unfolds. A first-run tutorial walks you through the map.
🏃 Extraction — leave with your life
- Push past depth 10 and you can extract: end the run on your own terms and your hero survives to fight another day.
- Extracting banks a small carry that strengthens your hero's next run — but it decays day by day. Use it or lose it.
- The catch: an extracted run never ranks. The leaderboard only honors your deepest committed push — glory still demands risk.
📅 Daily Challenge
- A new Daily Challenge on the Roster screen: every player faces the exact same gauntlet each day — same foes, same order, pure skill.
- One attempt per hero per day, with its own daily leaderboard. A new challenge drops every day.
🏛️ Hall of Legends & a living world
- The Hall of Legends is now a public museum — the most legendary fallen heroes across all players, remembered forever.
- Enemies and bosses now carry their own names and lore — dozens of named variants, and bosses announce themselves with a story when the fight begins.
🔧 Fixes
- Music no longer stacks or lingers through the death transition.
v1.3
July 1, 2026The Codex becomes a bestiary you fill in yourself — every foe you fell is recorded as a collectible card, and there is a whole roster of new enemies on the way.
📖 A bestiary you unlock by fighting
- The Codex bestiary is now a card collection. Every named enemy and boss has its own numbered card with its art, type, and lore.
- Foes start hidden in shadow — defeat one in the gauntlet and its card is recorded for you, revealing its name and art. Gotta fell them all.
- Each card you unlock tracks how many times you have felled that foe and when you first recorded it.
- Filter the bestiary by type, and tap any card for its full page. A counter tracks how much of the bestiary you have discovered.
👹 A wave of new foes incoming
- Dozens of brand-new enemies — trolls, ogres, wolf packs, covens, war-constructs and more — already have their silhouettes in the Codex, waiting to enter the gauntlet in a coming update.
v1.2
June 30, 2026Every fall now tells a story — the Legend Screen names what killed you and leads with what you earned, plus a shareable Death Card, a combat log that finally speaks, and a new leaderboard filter.
⚰️ Every death is a legend
- When a hero falls, the new Legend Screen leads with what they earned and names exactly what killed them — a crushing crit, an affliction, or the foe that outlasted them.
- Permadeath is reframed as legend-making, not just loss — your fallen heroes are remembered for how they fought.
🖼️ Share your fallen hero
- A new Death Card — a shareable image of your hero, the depth they reached, their score, and their epitaph — so a legendary run can leave the game and find its way to friends.
⚔️ The combat log speaks
- The silent stats now narrate themselves: Willpower shrugging off a crit, Speed slipping a blow, a ward absorbing a hit — you can finally read why a fight went the way it did.
🏆 Leaderboard: Best of / All runs
- A new filter to switch between the best run per player (the ranking) and every qualifying run (all the action), alongside the Today / 7-day / 30-day time windows.
v1.1
June 29, 2026Legend Forge has a soundtrack — an original score for every screen, every boss, and every final breath — plus a new Settings menu to mix it.
🎵 An original soundtrack
- A full original score now plays across the whole game — the title screen, the forge, the gauntlet, and the Hall of Legends each have their own theme.
- Boss fights get their own driving battle music that escalates as you reach deeper, deadlier bosses.
- The gauntlet music darkens as you descend, and cycles through several battle tracks so a long run never gets repetitive.
- Falling carries weight — permadeath gets its own somber send-off when a hero is lost for good.
⚙️ Settings & sound controls
- New Settings menu — tap the gear in the top-right corner on any screen.
- Separate Music and Sound Effects volume sliders, plus a master mute, so you can dial in the mix.
- Fixed the audio controls on mobile (the old pop-up could open off the edge of the screen).
- More settings options coming soon.
v1.0
June 28, 2026Every legend now plays differently — plus a smarter gauntlet, a live leaderboard, and a big UX polish pass.
⚔️ Combat & balance
- Every legend now has its own best build, signature passive, and deep-run payoff — Brute (bruiser), Mystic (crit gambler), Shadow (speed assassin), Tech (bleed/attrition), and Vanguard (fortress/counter). With the right build and a lucky run, any legend can reach the top of the board.
- Enemies fight smarter: they can land critical hits (more often the deeper you go) and inflict status effects — Burn, Poison, Power-Down, and Stun. Willpower now resists crits and statuses and reduces all incoming damage.
- Elite enemies appear between bosses — tougher, with a modifier, but they drop better rewards.
- Fights resolve by a real death, not a hidden round limit — no more losing a fight while you still have HP.
- Tuned so most players reach the first boss, with bigger rewards after a boss falls.
🛠️ Forge a hero
- Auto-generated hero name with a reroll (↻) button — never start on a blank field.
- Stat descriptions so you know what Power, Resilience, Speed, Willpower, and Luck actually do.
- Forging takes you straight into the pre-battle matchup.
- Transparent hero art, a full-figure legend carousel, and type-themed backgrounds.
🏆 Leaderboard
- New time filter: Today, last 7 days, or last 30 days.
- Your score now appears immediately after a run finishes.
- Early release: every run is shown so you can see all the action — the best-score-per-player ranking returns later.
🎁 Rewards & combat screen
- Slide-up reward sheet — your cards and the Continue button are always visible, with no scrolling.
- Rewards and your stats now show together, with a live preview of how each card changes your hero.
- Polished combat view: legend badges, a color-coded battle log, HP bars with inline numbers, ability icons, and a collapsible log.
🔊 Sound
- Mute and volume controls — now reachable during combat, not just on the home screen.
- Removed the repetitive battle start and end stings (the boss sound stays).
- Fixed iOS audio so it plays even with the Ring/Silent switch on.
👤 Accounts & meta
- Play instantly as a guest, or create an optional email account — your roster carries over when you sign up.
- A first-run tutorial and a how-to-play guide.
- Permadeath: when a hero falls, they are gone for good and retired to the Hall of Legends.
- Roster management, including releasing heroes you no longer want.
🔒 Under the hood
- Fully server-authoritative and anti-cheat — every roll, battle, and score is resolved on the server, so the leaderboard is real and uncheatable.
- An accessibility pass, performance and image-loading improvements, error tracking, and stability work.
